Allen Gamble Overview
Allen Gamble Correctional Center is an Oklahoma Department of Corrections prison at the edge of Holdenville in Hughes County. The ODOC facilities directory lists the facility address, phone, fax, warden, capacity, and operational status. Research identifies the warden as Michael Miller and the operator as ODOC. CoreCivic's facility page says the property is leased to and operated by ODOC, so current family and records questions should follow ODOC rules rather than the old private-prison routing.
This is not a county jail. Allen Gamble Correctional Center houses sentenced adult male prisoners in ODOC custody. A person arrested in Hughes County does not appear in the ODOC locator just because of a new arrest, a first appearance, or a pending local felony complaint. The person appears in ODOC systems after a state-prison commitment or another ODOC custody status. For a new Hughes County arrest, begin with the sheriff or holding jail. For Allen Gamble inmate lookup, begin with ODOC.
The ODOC facilities screenshot below comes from the official ODOC facilities directory and is included because it directly matches Allen Gamble Correctional Center.
The directory context matters because older records may still use Davis Correctional Facility, while current ODOC listings use Allen Gamble Correctional Center.
Allen Gamble Capacity
ODOC lists Allen Gamble Correctional Center with a capacity of 1,723 inmates. Digital Prairie's state-publication record also summarizes the prison as a 1,723-bed male medium and maximum security facility in Holdenville. The research did not capture a current daily population count from ODOC weekly counts, so the page should not state a current head count. Capacity is a sourced number. Current population is a separate figure and must be checked against ODOC's current count material if needed.
| Population Point | Allen Gamble Detail |
|---|---|
| Custody class | Sentenced adult male Oklahoma prisoners, not county pretrial detainees. |
| Facility type | Male medium-security prison; state publication also notes medium and maximum security. |
| Capacity | 1,723 inmates in ODOC and Digital Prairie source material. |
| County link | Physically in Hughes County, but prisoners may be sentenced from any Oklahoma county. |
Allen Gamble Inmate Lookup
Use Oklahoma DOC offender lookup for Allen Gamble Correctional Center. The ODOC locator is the correct system for sentenced state prisoners and ODOC custody statuses. It is not a Hughes County jail roster and it does not replace OSCN court records. ODOC warns that its data is abbreviated and may not fully explain offenses, sentence details, or time to serve. If a result lists Allen Gamble as the facility, then the person is in ODOC prison custody at that institution, subject to ODOC rules for visitation, mail, money, and records.
- Open the ODOC offender lookup and review the disclaimer before relying on the record.
- Search by legal first and last name, or use the DOC number if known for a more exact match.
- Check the facility field and confirm whether it says Allen Gamble Correctional Center.
- Use OSCN or certified court records if sentence, count, judgment, or case-detail proof is needed.
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Name | Basic lookup route when the DOC number is not known. |
| DOC number | Best exact-match value for a sentenced Oklahoma prisoner. |
| Facility | Confirms current ODOC assignment when shown. |
| Offense or sentence | Abbreviated ODOC summary, not a certified judgment. |

Allen Gamble Money
JPay/Securus services are documented for Allen Gamble Correctional Center. The research captured send-money rates, eMessaging stamp rates, outbound email stamps, a Video Connect price, and a JPay incarcerated-individual kiosk. These are vendor fees from the JPay facility page, so they should be verified with JPay and ODOC before a deposit or call session. For mail, ODOC mail and digital-mail rules control. Use the incarcerated person's name and DOC number exactly as ODOC requires.
JPay's facility page for Allen Gamble Correctional Center services is the source for the vendor fee and service summary.
The vendor page is not a custody locator. It should be used only after ODOC confirms the person is assigned to Allen Gamble.

Allen Gamble Admission
Allen Gamble does not book people from the street after a Hughes County arrest. A local arrest begins with the arresting agency, sheriff, holding jail, bond, first appearance, prosecutor review, and court record. If the person is convicted and sentenced to ODOC, the judgment sends the person into the state prison system. ODOC reception and classification then determine placement based on custody level, bed space, security needs, programs, medical needs, conflicts, and other prison-management factors. A Hughes County sentence does not guarantee placement at Allen Gamble.
- DOC number
- The state prisoner identifier used for exact ODOC lookup, mail, and many vendor services.
- Classification
- The ODOC decision process that assigns custody level, restrictions, housing, and placement needs.
- Facility assignment
- The current ODOC prison location, which can change after transfer or reclassification.
About Allen Gamble
Allen Gamble Correctional Center was formerly Davis Correctional Facility. ODOC announced that it would take over operations from CoreCivic on October 1, 2023, and bring facility employees under the State of Oklahoma umbrella. ODOC also announced the new name to honor Sgt. Joe Allen Gamble Jr., who died at Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite on June 5, 2000 after responding to a distress call. That name change matters for records research because older articles, family notes, and court references may still say Davis, while current ODOC sources say Allen Gamble.
The facility is a major correctional presence inside Hughes County, but its population is distinct from the county jail population. Allen Gamble's 1,723-bed capacity counts a physical prison population in Hughes County. It does not mean 1,723 Hughes County arrestees are being held for local cases. People at the prison may have been sentenced from any Oklahoma county, and a Hughes County resident sentenced to prison may be sent to any ODOC facility.
Note: Verify ODOC assignment, visitation approval, and schedule status before traveling to Allen Gamble Correctional Center.
